Sir Francis Slingsby of Kilmore (near co. Cork), Ireland (bp. 29 May 1569 Knaresborough, Yorkshire),[1] was born into an aristocratic Catholic family in 1569. He was the youngest son of:
Francis settled in Ireland after serving as an officer in the Nine Years’ War of 1593 to 1603. He married Elizabeth Cuff, d. & coh. of Hugh Cuff of Cuff Hall, Somet. Her father was an English settler in Ireland who held extensive lands.
He became constable of Holyboling Castle, Cork, County Cork, Munster, Ireland and a member of the King's Council, Munster.

Francis was a descendant of Saier de Quincy if Joan Mallory, spouse of Thomas Slingsby, Esq., is proven to be a daughter of Sir John Mallory.
