Elizabeth Sloan, assumed daughter of Samuel Sloan and Rhoda
Elizabeth's parents are based on circumstantial evidence.
1) Maiden name SLOAN confirmed thru child's death record: Margaret Stubblefield.
2) Elizabeth and husband, living next to Elizabeth's parents in 1850.
3) There are Davenport children (parents unknown) living with her parents in 1850.
4) Elizabeth's 1st child is named Rhoda, same as Elizabeth's mother Rhoda.
5) Elizabeth's 1870/80 census shows born in Alabama. This is consistent with father's 1820 census, and also several other SLOAN children born between 1817 and 1827.
BIRTH / DEATH
Birth estimated about 1820: based on the following:
Birth: between 1821-1825, per census in 1830, age 10-14
Birth: between 1811-1820, per census in 1840, age 20-29
Birth: 1823 TN, per census in 1850, age 27
Birth: 1819 TN, per census in 1860, age 41
Birth: 1815 AL, per census in 1870, age 55
Birth: 1824 AL, per census in 1880, age 56
NOTE: Elizabeth's birth varies, but name of husband and children are consistent.
Place of Birth: assumed Limestone Co, Alabama, where parents were located in 1820.
Death: between 1880 and 1900.
Last known location: Jackson Co, TN (1880 census).
Elizabeth's husband is last located in 1891 Jackson Co TN voter list.
In a 1900 court case, the statement "bounded west by A. J. Davenport old place", implies Andrew J Davenport has either died or moved. I assume Andrew and Elizabeth died before 1900, since they cannot be located on 1900 census.
(Reference Court Records in further below section)
Place of Death: assumed to be Jackson Co, TN, per last known location.
MARRIAGE
Husband: Andrew J Davenport
Wife: Elizabeth Sloan
Married about 1847, per birth of 1st child Rhoda (born about 1848) on 1850 census.
