Johannah Slocum, daughter of Ebenezer Slocum, was born 2 Jan 1680/1681 in Jamestown, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.[1][2][3] (There were no counties in Rhode Island until 1703.) Ebenezer's wife, Johannah's mother was Mary (Thurston) Slocum. Jamestown Vital Records. The Slocum Genealogy says she was born 30 Dec 1680/1 [sic][4] and Austin's Genealogical Dictionary reports her birth 30 Dec 1680.[5]
Marriage
Johannah Sloackum of Jamestown and Caleb Carr of Jamestown were married. The Rhode Island monthly Friends meeting announced their marriage twice: 1. 1d 2m 1701 (1 Apr 1701) [pp 77/115] and 2. 29d 2m 1701 (29 April 1701) [pp 78/116][6] Their marriage took place, the next day 30 April 1701. Ebenezer Slocum, warden, officiated.[3][1]
Caleb, born 20 March 1679, was the son of Caleb Carr & Phillis Green. He married after Joanna's death Mary ____. They also had children.[7]
Death
Joanna Carr, wife of Caleb died 30 Dec 1708 in Jamestown, Newport, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.[1][3] This was four days after the birth of her fifth child, perhaps on her 28th birthday."
