Anne Small was born on 18th June 1825 in Kissing Point (now Ryde), New South Wales (Australia). She was the eldest daughter of 'currency kids', John Small and Elizabeth Patfield.[1] She was a granddaughter of First Fleet convicts, John Small and Mary Parker, Second Fleeter George Patfield, and 1793 convict arrival, Mary O'Brien. In 1838 Anne's family re-located to Woodford Island, in the Clarence River in northern New South Wales where they initially cut red cedar and then established a dairy herd.
Anne married William Johnson in 1846 in the Clarence River District Church of England (now Anglican Church), Grafton. [2] The couple had six sons and two daughters.
Aged 79 years, she passed away on 1st August 1904 in Chatsworth Island, Clarence River, New South Wales. [3] and was buried in the Church of England Cemetery, Maclean.
