Biography

Jacob Small was born in 1775 in Beaver City, Pennsylvania, his father was 28, and his mother was 28. He had five sons and three daughters with ______ Waring/Warring, who died before 1829. Jacob emigrated to Knox County, Indiana before 1829. His paternal grandfather, Bastion Frederick, and several uncles, had emigrated to Knox County before 1785. He married Elizabeth Mayes on February 5, 1829 in Knox County, IN.[1][2][3] He died in 1833 in Knox County, Indiana, at the age of 58.

  • Angelina Small 1803–1853*, m. Dr. Joseph Brown. Lived in Potosi, Washington, Missouri. Returned to Knox County, IN
  • Jacob Small 1818–1852*; m. Sarah Coons; was postmaster in Knox County.
  • David W. Small 1820–1852*, m. Elizabeth Coons in 1849. Widowed Elizabeth raised Jacob and Sarah Small's orphaned children with 2nd husband, Adam Bedell
