FOUND IN "REPRESENTATIVE MEN AND OLD FAMILIES OF RHODE ISLAND".

FOUND A WILL FOR STEPHEN SMITH IN RHODE ISLAND WILL AND PROBATE RECORDS, KENT COUNTY, VOLUME 2-4, 1745-1797, PAGE 131, MICRO FILM IMAGE 687 OF 848. THIS WILL WAS PROBATED 11/25/1788 AND IT IDENTIFIED THE FOLLOWING CHILDRED: STEPHEN, SIMEON, MOLLIE, SALLY, SARAH AND RUEBEN . CHILDREN ,BENJAMIN AND AND MARY, WERE NOT INDENTIFIED SO ONE CAN ASSUME THEY DIED BEFORE THE 1988 DATE. THE WILL DID NOT MENTION HIS WIVES MARY SABIN OR MARY PECK.

Mary Peck was shown as the second wife of Stephen Smith in the family bible of Chandler Holmes and Susan Paramore Smith's family bible dated 1856. Rueben was shown to be Mary Peck's and Stephen Smith's only child. All the other children were shown to be Mary Sabin's and Stephen Smith's Children.
