DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
This Thomas Smith of Ipswich [Smith-15304] (SON of JOHN) b.1683 was conflated with Thomas Smith of Sudbury [Smith-197377] (SON of THOMAS) b. 1679. They are 2 different men, in 2 different towns in 2 different counties who both married women named Elizabeth. The Sudbury man's dates of birth and death are in the Sudbury VR, as are his twelve children. His wife's surname is unknown. Furthermore, his 1st daughter was b. 15 Apr 1704. The Ipswich VR date for Thomas Smith IV [Smith-15304] and Elizabeth Emins' marriage is 13 Jul 1704. The father of Thomas of Ipswich was John. Therefore, Thomas Smith and Abigail Rice are NOT the Ipswich man's parents. See my notes for Bathsheba Smith [Smith-15292] (daughter of Thomas Smith II of Sudbury) for documentation.
The same wife (surname has a variation in spelling)
