Birth

Samuel was born ot Samuel and Elizabeth Smith in Medfield on May 26, 1674.[1]

Marriage

Elizabeth Adams married Samuel Smith in Dedham, on August 14, 1695[2]

Children

Samuel and Elizabeth had, in Medfield:[3]

  • Eleazar, b. Nov. 26,1696
  • John, b.1699, d. 1699
  • Samuel, b. Feb. 19, 1699-1700
  • Hannah, b. March 30, 1702-3, m. 1st Benjamin Plimpton in 1725, 2nd Jonathan Metcalf
  • Elizabeth, b. July 10, 1705, m. Nathaniel Cutler in 1727
  • Jonathan, b. Nov. 20, 1708, d. 1708
  • Lydia, b. Dec. 15, 1712, d. 1795 "unmarried; cared for by the town."[4]

Life in Medfield

Samuel so impressed the townspeople with his profession of faith on being received into communion that he was chosen deacon of the church. He served 21 years on the board of selectmen, nine years as town clerk, and was town treasurer for a time. And he was a representative to the General Court of the colony.[5]

Death

Samuel died January 12, 1741/2[6]
