Leonard died on 13 August 2006 at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Victoria, aged 70 years.[citation needed] He had suffered a brain hemorrhage, following a fall. He was buried in Echuca.
Leonard James Smith was attacked by dogs causing a fatal hit to the head causing brain damage. After Len had his accident, he was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital but was brain dead before he arrived.
He donated his liver and kidneys.
It's anticipated that Leonard's birth record will become accessible at BDM Victoria around 2036.
