Martha Elizabeth "Betsy" Smith was born about 1765 or 1770 in Colonial North Carolina, in an area which would later become Rockingham County. Her parents were Martha (Potter) and John Smith.
She married Aaron Cantrell about 1785 in Rockingham County, had several children with him[1][2] and passed away about 1866 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.
