Thomas was born in 1831. His parents were Thomas SMITH and Hannah FLETCHER

The SMITH family set sail aboard the ship, Una, from Plymouth, England, on 16 Jul 1849 and arrived at Port Jackson, New South Wales on 22 Nov 1849. They were assisted immigrants. The family consisted of mother, Hannah (aged 38), a widow, and her surviving children, George (21), Thomas (18), William (14) and Eliza (11).

Charlotte BLANCH and Thomas SMITH were married in 1853 in New South Wales, Australia. Their children included:
