Biography

Lt James William Smith Officer, 31st MA Infantry, Company C. Nov 20, 1861 - Apr 10, 1862. 1st Lieutenant, 34th MA Infantry, Company D. Aug 11, 1862 - July 28, 1863.

1865 Census: lived with wife Mary and two children in Hadley, MA. Farmer. Lived on the Richardson property next to Russell Church.
