Biography

Marritie was baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of New York on 25 July 1683, recorded as the child of Lambert Ariszen and Margrietie Gerrits. The witnesses were Gerrit Hendrickszen and Josynrie Gerrits.^[1]

She may be their daughter who married Hendrick Laroe in 1715, when she would have been 32 years old. It is also possible that she died young and another daughter (without a recorded baptism) was given her name. The Marritie who married Hendrick Laroe was recorded at her marriage as having been born in Tappan, which was not settled until 1686 or later^[2] (after this girl was baptized) and is credited with children born as late as 1736, when this woman would have been 53 years old.
