Biography

Samuel Smith was born about 1748 and died November 8, 1823 at the age of 75. He was the son of Samuel Smith and Mary Hemingway. On April 11, 1765 he married Mary Dawson, the daughter of Robert Dawson and Thankful Alling. They had 3 children before her death in January, 1773: Samuel, Lydia, and Jared. Later in 1773 he married Diadama Grannis, the daughter of Isaac Grannis and Kezia Moulthrop. With Diadama he had 6 more children: Isaac, Mary, Amy, Desire, Roger, and Ransom. [1]
