Hi Brad, You've just added a child born in 1539 to William Keith Fourth Earl Marischal https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Keith-415 without citing any sources. Please review the requirements for Pre-1700 profiles at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles which you agreed to when you self certified. The Scotland Project list of reliable sources is at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Scotland_Project_Reliable_Sources
Hi Brad, Just a reminder to add sources for your Pre-1700 GEDCOM Profiles that you have just created.

Hi Brad,

Thank you for contributing your research to WikiTree!

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz. It is important to have the sources at the time the profile is created. Ancestry family trees are not acceptable sources for pre-1700 profiles. The England Project has some excellent resources for finding sources, and also has some detailed guidelines for pre-1700 sources: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England_Project_Reliable_Sources

The requirements for post-1700 profiles are not as stringent, but it is still important to add sources when the profiles are created. If you haven't tried the WikiTree Sourcer you might want to take a look at it. It makes searching several sites such as familysearch.org and ancestry.com very easy, and if you find a source you want to use it will provide a nicely formatted source that you can paste into the profile.

If you are importing from a GEDCOM that already is well-sourced, the WikiTree Browser Extension has a nice Automatic GEDCOM Cleanup feature that creates a brief narrative biography, and cleans up the sources so they don't get split up with the SPAN syntax.

If you need help with any of this, our G2G Forum is a great place to start. You can get there by clicking the link on the Help menu.

Best Regards,

Paige

Hi Brad,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Brad, you are now a member of WikiTree! Please help us build one Collaborative Global Family Tree, which means only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

To help you get started, view this introductory WikiTree video.

We also have Mentors who will be glad to answer questions.

Thanks for volunteering and welcome to the Tree!

Hello Brad,

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step instruction of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The Help Pages give lots of information about the process starting with: 'Before you import a GEDCOM'

Find instructions here for reviewing your GEDMatch Report if you want to import it into WikiTree.

Thanks, Bill.
