Andrew Smith was born in Dalry, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom in 1849 or 1850 to Andrew Smith (1820-bef 1874) and Christina Workman (1820-1900)
He worked as a Miner for his entire life.
When Andrew was 24 years old he married Janet Stirrat Archibald (1853-bef 1891) daughter of Hugh Archibald (1816-) and Janet White (1826-) in Dalry, Ayrshire on the 13th February 1874.
His Wife died prior to his remarriage to Mary Fulton Young (1855-) on the 6th October 1891 in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom.
