If Chaney Smith married James Maynard in 1808 in Wilkes County, NC, and my ancestor James Maynard Jr., was born in 1807 (or before), then it is unlikely that Chaney Smith is James Jr's biological mother. Unless James Jr's birth year is incorrect? It is also listed that Mary Polly Johnson, the supposed former wife of James Maynard Sr., died in about 1840, and that would put her in her 80's, and make one wonder, did James Sr., and Mary Polly Johnson Maynard divorce??
