Biography

Caroline Matilda was born to parents Solomon and Zipporah around 1804. At age 18, Caroline married Joseph Mansfield from Massachusetts and together they had five children together. In 1836, Caroline's third son Thomas died at 18 months. Three years later in early 1839, Caroline's husband was believed to have died at sea leaving her widowed. In 1854, her second son Joseph was murdered in California over a political argument. Four years later in 1858 her only daughter Caroline passed away. A few years later, February 28, 1860 Caroline marries her second husband William Pierce from Malden, Massachusetts. Sometime between 1870 - 1880 her second husband died. Caroline lived the remainder of her in Malden, Mass. till her death April 15, 1882 at age 78. She was laid to rest on April 18, 1882 at Malden Mass Cemetery.
