Burial: Cataraqui Cemetery - Clark Bible. Ref: Yvonne Domson, 2318 Mayfield St., Saginaw, Michigan from Bible Records of Darius Smith. [BGE, 04/06] Cataraqui Cemetery was not opened until about 1850 so even if Darius and Sophia had been buried in Kingston it would have to have been in what is now a park.. It was called the Upper Burial Ground, was divided in 3 sections, Anglican, Catholic and Presbyterian, and was in use until a few years after Cataraqui opened. By the 1890's it had been closed; some stones (and possibly remains) were moved to Cataraqui or St Mary's RC Cemetery; the remaining stones were turned face down and sodded over. No record has ever been found of the stones - some burials are recorded in local church registers. Cataraqui is a very large cemetery - over 50,000 burials there and it was meticulously transcribed by Kingston OGS branch in the late 1990's, and has been published. There is no record that Darius and Sophia are buried there. [Sharon Cadieux, email 01/09/11]

Smith-267853 and Smith-71462 appear to represent the same person because: same parents (merges proposed), same wife and identical birth
