William and Hannah Smith have five children with them in 1851 all called Smith, but they may come from three different families. William 22 a shoemaker is clearly William's child by his first wife. Samuel 7 and Ann 11 months are the children of the parents present with them, married in 1839. Sarah 12 and Joseph 10 are born in the Union Workhouse: Sarah especially may be born to a different father before the marriage, but Joseph would seem to be William's son. [12]

Smith-201442 and Smith-73119 do not represent the same person because: Hannah Smith (Smith-201442) is the daughter of Christopher Smith and Jane, born in Kilnwick in the East Riding of Yorkshire in 1815.
Hannah Smith (Smith-73119) married William Smith (a widower) in 1839 from Brixworth Union Workhouse, Northamptonshire, England, but she probably was surnamed Smith before that marriage and even at birth in Maidwell in the same county 1814.
