From "The Todds of Virginia" p. 518-519. Marriage date reference to (banns published on that date) and reference to being grandniece of Capt. John Smith, and daughter of John Smith (b Feb 23, 1690) and Ann Smith Smith who were married on Nov 24, 1714. Ann was the daughter of Thomas Smith and Ann Petty.

Ann's husband was the son of Lt. John Smith and Jane Crocke, dau of Nicholas Crocke, who died Oct 25, 1687, and Jane Crocke. Lt. John Smith's services entitle lineal descendants to membership in the following patriotic societies: Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of Colonial Wars, and Daughters of the American Colonists.
