Biography

John was born in 1830. He was the son of John and Grace Smith.

He emigrated from England to South Africa where he married Mary Curran on 9 October 1856 at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa.[1]

They had about 9 children.

His wife Mary passed away in 1888.

He married, secondly, Ellen Walsh.

John passed away in 1901 at the age of 71.[2]
