He was born in Odessa, Russia (now Ukraine). He was left in Odessa, with his grandparents, while his parents and sister came to the U.S. He was less than 1 year old. He lived in Odessa until he was about 12 years old. He arrived in Minnesota about 1906 or 1907. He was in the United States Marines from Feb. 11, 1918 to Aug.15, 1919 and was Honorably discharged as a Private with the 95th Co. 6th Reg. U.S.M.C . He married my grandma, Lydia Blomgren on Dec. 13, 1920 in Great Falls, Cascade co. , Montana.
