NEWSPAPER CLIPPING OF THE 1905 SMITH reunion:
" SMITH FAMILY'S SECOND ANNUAL
THREE HUNDRED ATTEND THE REUNION YESTERDAY
The Descendants of Joseph Smith, Who Immigrated Here From Berks County About the Year 1___, gathered at the Lycoming County Fair Grounds, Heard an address, Elected Officers, and Had a General Good time.
The second annual reunion of the descendants of Joseph Smith, an old pioneer Quaker, who immigrated from Berks county about 1780, was held Thursday afternoon at the Lycoming County Fair grounds. There were about three hundred present despite the fact that the threatening weather kept many who would have been obliged to travel a long distance from attending.
But nevertheless those who did attend enjoyed a good time as well as a jovial meeting of many old friends and relatives whom they but seldom have the opportunity to see.
A Bit of History
The Smith family has a bit of interesting history. About the last of the eighteenth century Joseph Smith, who was living with his parents in Berks county, indulged in a little romance by falling in love with a lady who unfortunately was not a member of the sect of Friends to which Smith's family belonged. The marriage so incensed his family that he was really ostracized from their society. The couple came to Lycoming county and located in Woodward township, just above Linden.
Four sons blessed the Smith household: Stephen, Thomas, William and Joseph Jr. All are long since dead but they left a large progeny, and the in___ics resulting are the members of this Smith family.
The Rev. H. C. Guthrie, of Quiggleville, made an address to the people during the afternoon, in which he reviewed a history of the family.

The usual business session was held, the following officers being chosen: President, James W. Smith, of South Williamsport (re-elected); vice president, Elmer Smith, of Pine Run; secretary, Aaron Smith, of Williamsport; treasurer, Hower Smith, of Queneshaque.
