In the 1851 census records from Darlington, Ontario, there is a Smith family listed which include George Smith (head), 63, England, and his wife Eliza, 53. Children in the household include (1) George, 21, (2) Jane, 16, (3) Caroline, 14, (4) Sarah, 11, (5) Thomas, 9. Also in residence are John Smith, 31, and Grace Smith, 25, and their children Lame, 3, and James, 1. Online family trees suggest that this Jane Smith married Rev. James Moffat Douglas.
While this could represent the same person Jane (nee Smith) Profit states on the 1911 census that she immigrated to Canada in 1855.
I have not been able to locate Henry Profit on the 1851 Ontario Census or 1851 Census records in England. The 1901 census suggests that he immigrated to Canada in 1847.
