Biography

I'm interested in contributing to WikiTree, but I'm not interested in a particular specific focus at the moment. Many of the ancestors of mine that I have found to exist already on WikiTree have horrendous entries full errors, disproven connections, and not a lick of sourcing.

I currently have my research public on Rootsweb, and invite anyone confirming me as a volunteer to check the quality of my work. While it is not perfect or perhaps even professional, especially in some branches, I try very hard to source my work as much as possible. George J. Smith and Johan Daniel Baushar are probably some of my better profiles that I have fretted over details or fleshed them out. Compare the latter with his profile on WikiTree to see what I mean about the quality of work I currently see here.

Hi J,

I haven’t heard back from you about the break up of the United Kingdom Project. I hope all is well with you. I assume you don’t wish to join any of the country-level projects at present, and will go ahead and remove the United Kingdom badge. If you wish to join England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland in the future, you would be most welcome to do so via the respective G2G sign-up post.

Many thanks for all your contributions,

Susie :-)

Hi J,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi

I’m the new Project Coordinator for the England Project. I am contacting you, as there have been some recent changes to the project which we are keen to bring to your attention. Please look at the England Project page for more information on the changes and the ways members are able to actively contribute moving forward. Once you have considered how you would like to participate, please contact either myself or Susie to let us know. We can then list your involvement, help you join the Google group forum for England, and give you any other help you may need to get going. If we don’t hear back from you we’ll assume you do not wish to be a part of the England Project for the time being. We really hope you will join the team! Gillian

P.S. Great job on editing and sourcing the Bowsher-12 profile! We definitely need all the help we can get here. :)
Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month!

We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

And we're always looking for volunteers to assist in different ways.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I'm happy to help!

Hi J,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi, I understand from Summer that your UK interest is with Derbyshire. I'd therefore like to invite you to join the United Kingdom Project and the England sub project.
