Mary Smith, daughter Edmund Smith who was a neighbor, married Thomas Akers (Ackers) on 24 November 1753 in Augusta County, Virginia.

Thomas Akers II born about 1770 Botecourt County, Virginia died 1815 • Greenville, Floyd, Indiana
Uriah Akers born 08 NOV 1787 • Fayette, Fayette, Kentucky died 22 MAY 1875 • Scott County, Illinois
Mary Smith Akers died after 1787 (birth of son Uriah).
Note: Although Thomas Akers is listed as buried in Heil Cemetery, he is buried in the family plot. Heil Cemetery was listed as a location to suffice DAR requirements to provide a military headstone in 1956.
Thomas served in the American Revolution and participated in the Battle of Blue Licks, 1782.
Thomas Sr. was on the Fayette, KY tax list in 1787.
Thomas was on the 1795, 1796 list in Shelby County,
