NOTE:

  • Marie Fevord is being detached as the mother of Benjamin Smith, and replaced with Magdalena (Unknown) Smith Olmstead. See "Disputed Origins" on the profile of William Smith.
  • Previously in the biography, the surname of Benjamin's second wife was "Mills." "Mills" was suggested with a question mark [Mills?] by Jacobus on page 71 of his "The American Genealogist" article entitled "William Smith of Jamaica" [1]

Thomas Smith immigrated to New England between 1621 and 1640 and later departed for Jamaica, Long Island

Thomas Smith was born in England about 1626; the son of William Smith and his wife Magdalena (Unknown) Smith Olmstead.[2]

  • in 1684, he long with his brothers Joseph, Nehemiah and Wait Smith, as sons of deceased William Smith, confirmed land at Huntington; Daniel Denton and Joseph Smith, Jr. were witnesses
  • called "Sr." in 1686.[1]

By about 1686[2] was married to Patience (Unknown surname)[3] when he and Elias Baylie, both of Jamaica sold land in Jamaica and their wives "Sarah Baylie" and "Patience Smith" joined in signing the deed.[2]

This profile and brother Benjamin [1] were born before father migrated in 1635. Thesefore I believe they should be included in the PGM Project.

I've not updated this profile.... but will do so soon.

If you also think they fit the guidelines, WILL A LEADER please add co-management to these two profiles. Thank you.
