Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:
Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.
We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.
As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!
Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include Smith and any other tag terms that you wish to follow on the GenealogistToGenealogist (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following
As you add your profiles and connect to the WikiTree, you may find cousins you never expected. Use the Relationship calculator to see if you are related to me, Cooper-1 with http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Relationship
You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.
Wow!!! You're the 96,630th Smith to join Wikitree! I'm just betting there are some 'cousins' already profiled who can benefit from YOU adding your research and knowledge.
Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.
If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.
Feel free to look around and use the search tab to find your relatives, you don't have to volunteer to add your family or collaborate with others to do that.
There is a great Genealogy 101 references list here: Getting Started.
WikiTree is a collaborative site for people of all experience levels.
Did you volunteer because you want to start adding your family and contribute to our shared tree? If so post another note when you're ready and a Wikitree Greeter will confirm you to full member status.
The initial email from us has helpful links that get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used.
WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
What brings you to WikiTree? Research youd like to share? Interested in how your family fits into the big tree?
When you confirm your email address, youll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project Volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
Welcome to the Family, were really glad youre here.
