Biography

Sarah M. Smith was born on 01 October 1830, North Weston, Oxfordshire, England, and she was baptized on 07 January 1831 at nearby Thame Church.

She was married on 26 January 1848, at the Methodist Episcopal Church (by Rev. Arthur Bradshaw), Vermilion County, Illinois, to Nelson Grant Moore. The widow Sarah appears in the 1865 Illinois State Census (Middlefork Twp., Vermilion Co., page 74). She appears in Newell Township, Vermilion County, Illinois, in the 1870 Census (page 289B).

She married 2nd, on 01 February 1874, to Robert G. Thrasher. In the 1880 Census, the Thrashers appear in Ford County, Illinois (page 371A). They appear in the 1900 Census, and Robert died in September 1900. She appears as a widow "Sarah Thresher", living with her son John in the 1910 Census (Vermilion Co., Illinois). She died on 07 September 1911, Vermilion County, Illinois, and she was buried in Potomac Cemetery.
