Charles Smythe of Sutton at Hone, Kent, Gent
Charles Smythe was a son of John Smythe and Isabella Rich.[1]
"Charles the sonne of Sir John Smith Knight & the Lady Isabella his wife was borne the 10th of Mh [1627/1628] and baptized the 26th March 1628" at St Bartholomew the Great, City of London.[2][3]
Charles Smith, gentleman, was noted in the will of his grandmother Sarah the Dowager Countess of Leicester, the will made on 02 Feb 1655/1656 and proved on 13 Mar 1655/1656.[4]
"Charles, sat for Lostwithiel in the Cavalier Parliament and for Penryn in 1680-1, probably as an opponent of Exclusion."[1][5]
Charles Smythe Esq brother to the Rt Hon Laetitia Isabella Countess of Radnor died at Chelsey [presumably Chelsea, Middlesex) and was interr'd here [at Lanhydrock, Cornwall], February 1682/1683.[6]
In his will dated 18 Oct 1682 and proved 06 Mar 1682/1683 he was recorded as "Charles Smith of Sutton at Hone in the County of Kent Gent" (although he appears to have signed as Charles Smythe).[7]
