Name: Samuel Snead[1]

Research Notes

Disputed Parents: According to Vis. of Cheshire, 1613, William Snead died without issue, and his wife remarried to J. Wrottesley.[2]

Samuel could not have been the son of William because William as heir apparent died 29 Aug 1613. William's brother, Ralph became heir apparent on his death. The line followed Ralph when their father, Ralph, died a couple of years later. Sneyd Pedigree

Death date has been entered as 1652 or 1671, so sources are needed

Samuel arrived in Virginia with his wife Alice and son William in 1635. He received a grant of land from Charles I. of 250 acres in James City county.

According to information in the LDS Pedigree Resource file CD#3, Samuel's father is Ralph Sneyd, and his grandfather is William, and his great grandfather is Richard. I have not found any evidence to back this up.  ::According to information supplied by Dee Reynolds on RootsWeb World Connect Project: All My Relations, Samuels father was William Sneyd of Charles, York, England.

William Sneyd was NOT the father of Samuel. Samuel's son William has been assumed to be the progenitor of the Sneeds of Fluvanna. This has never been proven. We believe Sneed's Beach in Accomac, Va. was named after the Sneed's of Accomack, not Samuel. William is reported to be the pater familis of the Sneed's of Fluvanna and this is based soley upon the conjecture of one Dick Bolduc from Ancestry.com. who shared his theory with everyone, proliferating this misinformation far and wide. If you have any questions re: the Accomack Sneeds, please go to MilesFiles.com, the official source for the Eastern Shore of VA. I appreciate any help offered. Thanks, Joni Sneed.

Snead-225 and Snead-43 appear to represent the same person because: These two Samuel Snead records appear to represent the same person. If you agree, could you complete a merge?

The injection of York County does bring into question the possibility it connects to the Lords of Keele. Stafford County is west of Yorkshire but in the same Midlands area.

Note the name of Ralph Snead which appears over five hundred years in Staffordshire UK.

This guy could be a link to the Lord's of Keele estate donated as an institute of higher learning in the middle of the 20th Century in the west midlands after several hundred years as the home of minor royalty resulting from coal mining, marriage and textile manufacturing in the 16th through 19th centuries.
