<http://www.genealogy.com/ftm/k/a/u/Valerie-J-Kautzky/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0160.html/> Hendley Snead is the son of Israel Sneed. Israel is said to have married Johanna Hendley and had issue by proof of his will: Keziah, Anne, Henley, Martha, William, Frances, Solomon, John and David. Some have included Samuel Sneed of Anson who could also be Israel's brother.Israel is often confused with other men who shared his name.In Caroline and Essex Counties we find other Israel Sneeds; one who is believed to be the son of John of Caroline. In Lunenburg we find another Israel Sneed who might be the son Christopher Sneed who settled in that region.

Israel Snead of Louisa County, Virginia and Israel Snead of Anson County, North Carolina are clear the same person by evidence of Johanna’s name appearing in deeds for land sales in Louisa and then named in Israel’s will in Anson County.A Louisa deed dated 1746 from Edward Harris and his wife conveying 150 acres on Cubb Creek to William Watkins is witnessed by John Snead, Miles Burford, Samuel Sneed and Israel Sneed. In the same year, David Harris of St. Martin’s Parish sold to Israel Snead, of the same parish, 253 acres on the south side of Cubb Creek [ref:20 Oct 1746].The distinctive name of “Israel” and the appearance of the Burford family all seem to indicate that we are looking at the same records of the Sneed family that appears in Anson County, North Carolina in the 1760s.Unfortunately, most of the record of Hanover County have been lost to fire and war, so positive proof is difficult to come by. Henly Sneed left his will in Richmond County in 1816 and secondhand information claims he married Mary Burford sister of Samuel’s wife Temperence and their children were Charity, Absolom, Solomon, William, Nancy, Lydia, Mary, Susannah, Henley, and Daniel [ref:W.B 1, pg. 184].

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Hendley by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Hendley:

Snead-74 and Sneed-1144 appear to represent the same person because: Appear to be clear duplicates. I would be happy to work on clearing up information regarding Hendley Snead. It makes sense, to me, to merge the two profiles, how conflating the info might be, and start from there. Thanks!

Please work with the other PM's to verify the spelling of first and surname for Henley Snead/Sneed so they can be merged. They have the same parents, spouse, and dates and need to be merged. Let me know if you need any help with this. Thanks!

Sneed-1144 and Snead-74 are not ready to be merged because: Parents of this new Hendley need verified sources. Not only an 1840 census reference.

Sneed-1144 and Snead-74 appear to represent the same person because: duplicated father, same mother, same spouse, same birth, death are different but source on Snead-1144 is DAR Application, Snead-74 has other sources.
Hendley is recognized by Daughters of the American Revolution for Patriotic Service during the Revolutionary War period. He is DAR Ancestor # A211554. Here is a link you can use to add the DAR template to his profile: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:1776#SAR_and_DAR_Templates

You can also add the 1776 template as well (located on same link page)

Hmmm, I initiated a merge of the two Henleys prematurely. My information all comes from a photocopy of an aged typed genealogy of the Thomas family, but I'm not sure what other evidence there it out there. I wonder if we can find some more documentation somewhere. Let me work on this a little.
