Birth Date: 31 MAR 1760 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay, New England.[1]

Ruth Snow was born on March 31, 1760, at her parents' home in Truro, Barnstable County (Cape Cod), Massachusetts Bay Province, New England. Her parents were:[2]

Father: Amasa Snow, b: 9 Jan 1721 in Truro, Massachusetts Bay, New England
Mother: Mary (Collins) Snow, b: May 1722 in Truro, Massachusetts Bay, New England.

Ruth Snow was a great, great granddaughter of Pilgrims Nicholas Snow and Mayflower passenger, Constance (Hopkins) Snow who had pioneered Cape Cod around 1645, one of the 3 New England Snow families to descend from Mayflower passengers.

On October 27, 1785, in Truro, Ruth Snow married a distant cousin, Jonathan Collins, b: 31 May 1754 in Truro, Massachusetts Bay Province. The couple lived in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay, and had the following children: [3]

  7. Mary Wilson Collins b: 18 Jan 1798 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts

Jonathan Collins died in 1798 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts. His widow survived his passing. She died on April 13, 1839 and was buried at the Truro Congregational Church Cemetery, Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts.[4]


:NOTE There is no primary document proof that the person in this Profile was the Ruth Snow who married William Saunders in Penobscot County, Maine in 1790. The husband of this Ruth Snow, Jonathan Collins, was still alive until at least 1798 and he and Ruth (Snow) Collins had 3 more children together in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts, in 1792, 1795 and 1798.
