Son of Richard Snow and Abigail Coggin of Woburn, MA. Seth Snow (Sr.) married Ruth Holden (b. Nov. 20, 1745) on June 14, 1766, in Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts Bay, New England. They lived first in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay, but then moved Holden, Worcester Co., Massachusetts Bay Province, in 1772. Their first son, Seth Snow, Jr., was born on September 13, 1768, in Sudbury, Worcester County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, New England. On July 27, 1796, Seth Jr. married Abigail Griswold in Eaton, Madison County, New York. Seth Snow Jr. and his family moved west to Chautauqua County, New York, USA, around 1812.[1]

According to "The Chautauqua Genealogist," (v.14, #4, Nov. 1991), Seth Snow, Sr., served as a Corporal in the Massachusetts militia during the American Revolution. Following that conflict, Seth Sr. moved to Eaton, Madison Co., New York, around 1793 and then joined his brother, Simeon Snow in Augusta, Oneida Co., New York. An accomplished joiner (carpenter), Seth Snow is said to have built himself "fine brick houses" in both Cherry Valley and Eaton, Madison Co., New York. He died in Augusta, Oneida County NY, in November 1815 at 81 years old. His wife, Ruth (Holden) Snow, pre-deceased him in Augusta, Oneida, NY, by three years.[2]
