Christian, b. 4 Feb. 1790 Belmont, Alsace (per his marriage record), living at Ribeauville on 20 Dec. 1815 when he married at Eckbolsheim Madelaine Littweiler, widow of Jean Rupp of Eckbolsheim. She was born 21 Oct. 1777 at la Wantzenau, daughter of Samuel Littweiler, deceased and Barbe Littweiler (per marriage record). Christian Sommer of Eckbolsheim, age 28, notified the authorities of the death of his step-son Christian Rupp at Eckbolsheim on 24 Sept. 1817. Chretian Sommer of Eckbolsheim, Bas-Rhin emigrated to America 1 Mar. 1819, with wife and six children (per John Schunk, referring to the Alsace Emigration Index – LDS Film #1,125,006). Christian Sommer was one of the original Amish settlers in Butler County, Ohio in August 1819) (per Grubb's [1] History of the Mennonites of Butler County, Ohio, p. 11; see also pp. 44-5 listing Christian and his brothers and stating that Christian moved soon after immigrating to Darke Co., Ohio).
