Following the outbreak of World War II, Bill enlisted in the Australian Army on 15th August 1942 at Home Hill, Queensland, Australia and served as a Private with the 16th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps. He was discharged from service 5th November 1945.[2]
William John Francis Soper died aged 63, on 12th March 1982 in Home Hill, Queensland, Australia & was laid to rest 14th March 1982 at the Home Hill Cemetery, Home Hilll, Queensland, Australia.[4][5][6][7]
