Bertha had been married and divorced before she married my grandfather, Albert Zulauf.
A Mae Southard married George A Adams on November 26, 1919 in Snohomish, Washington. This may be Bertha Mae Southard as she always went by Mae.
In the 1920 US Census, Seattle, King, Washington, a George A Adams, b. New York, and his wife Mae B Adams, b. Iowa were renting in Seattle.
Given that Bertha Mae preferred to be called Mae and the middle initial of Mae Adams was B, which was probably for Bertha, I am now sure that George A Adams was her first husband.
George was born in New York, ands father was born in Michigan.
The census had no age for either of them. Bertha Mae would have been 21 years old, having been born in 1899 in Iowa.
