Isaac was born on 17 May 1838 at Madison Co., Virginia.[1] He was the son of Isaac Southard and Lydia Ann Nicholson. Isaac served in the military in 1861. [2] He married Anna (u) Southard in 1868 at Delaware Co, Pennsylvania.[3][4] Isaac died on 25 November 1926 at Elwyn, Delaware Co, Pennsylvania, at age 88.[5] His body was interred on 29 November 1926 at Delaware Co, Pennsylvania.[6]

Isaac Southard was a Confederate veteran of the Civil War who served as a Private in Capt. Bouton's Co. D, 34th Virginia Infantry. He enlisted May 25, 1861 at Madison Court House, Madison County, Virginia. Captured at Petersburg, Virginia on June 15, 1864, he was sent to Point Lookout, a Maryland prisoner of war camp. On July 12, 1864 he was transferred to Elmira prison camp in New York where he was confined for almost a year. He was released on June 16, 1865.
