Biography

Susan was born 1879 and baptised 10 July 1879 at Truro St Paul, Cornwall, daughter of Hart Udy and Susan Anna Sowden. The baptism notes Hart was a Pattern Maker and they were resident at "Lechlade, Gloucestershire. Temporary abode James'" - presumable James's Place, which is the location listed for Susan's sister Mary's baptism^[1][2]

In the 1881 census, Hart Sowden (29, pattern maker b. St Blazey Cornwall), wife Susan (30, b. Lanivet, Cornwall), children Joseph (4 b. Truro), Mary (3 b. Truro), Susan (1 b. Truro) and William (0. b Lechlade, Gloucestershire) are resident at Thames Street, Lechlade, Gloucestershire^[3]

In the 1891 census, Hart (39, pattern maker b. St Blazey), wife Susan H (30. b Lanivet), children Joseph (14, grocer's assistant b.
