Description
This is a copy produced from the holdings of the Texas State Archives of an approved application for a confederate pension. Since Francis remained a widow and never remarried she was elligible to request a confederate pension from the good State of Texas.
- In the document it is mentioned that Charles Niederhofer served 33 months in the Confederacy. pg2
- It also says that Francis and Charles were married at Galveston on January the 8th of 1857. pg2
- Francis's actual signature is on page 3 and her son August was one of the witnesses.
- Francis mentions her late husbands date of death to be September 19th 1864. pg 2
- The witnesses knew the Niederhofers personally and were continuous friends of the family.
- Witness Hardy claimed that Charles joined the army one day after Galveston was invaded by the Federals in 1863 but the actual invasion happened October of 1862. Hardy also verified that Charles was enlisted in Elmore's Regiment in D.H.Lewis's Company. pg 9
- Witnesses Hardy and Lewis served in the army with Charles.
