Talking about dance

This spoke to me automatically. It's so true, you always have your guard up, too scared to try and allow love or in this case, music, embody you. Slowly, but eventually, it creeps in and you realize that there's nothing to loose.

I chose this quote because the night that I got married the actor Pat Morita sat at the table next to mine at a restaurant in Las Vegas....He was as humble and accomodating in person as he appeared on the screen.

I chose this quote because this is how I feel when I perform on stage. I don't feel scared to dance and I show people what I can achieve.

I chose this quote because it's pretty much the first thing I noticed when I started going to night clubs. To this day, when looking across the dance floor, there is really only one place I want to be.

"There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good." ~Edwin Denby - I chose this quote because I feel that dance is so natural and everyone does it whether they call themselves a dancer or not. I love connecting insanity with dance because some forms of dance seem so primitive and raw, and insane. These dances are not often understood by all, but by the dancers it feels right.

I chose this quote because of the emotional connection to the arts that we all share and how each of our individual art forms bring us happiness.

I selected this quote because it reflects an approach that we should all take in life. No matter the day we have, we should always dance, laugh, sing; appreciate life and the beauty it holds. Dance is an expression of our being and should be articulated with our mind, body and soul -- everyday.

Dance, like all arts seems to be best mastered through practical means. Although interesting, learning about dance theory, and the evolution of dance throughout time, is not necessarily paramount to our own development as a dancer. One must be able to find inspiration from their experience and environment, and from that, create one's own style and attitude, and then- just dance. This quote embodies my teaching philosophy in the Arts Ed program.

Let us first produce a beautiful human being, a dancing child. — Isadora Duncan (1877-1927) I selected this quote because it speaks to me about the relevance of a child’s need for not only emotional and mental nourishment, but also for the essentiality of the arts. By having to focus not just in the scholastic part of the program but rather by implementing a curriculum that exposes the greater atmosphere that surrounds the child, an educational institution would impact children in more ways than just artistically. Because by being exposed to the broader horizon that the arts bring (music, art, dance, theatre and cultures) the child will absorb different disciplines that are adjacent to the arts. Thus; by exploring the varying disciplines the outcome will only open doors that will allow the child, and eventually the adult to become a well-rounded citizen.

“Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.” - Martha Graham. I chose this quote because I am one of those people that always thought that I couldn't dance. I always doubted my dance abilities because I felt that I wasn't the right body type or had the right skills or knowledge. In this quote, Martha states that you don't need to be a professional in order to dance, or a certain body type, or have a certain skill. Anyone can dance as long as they have the passion and the courage to dance from their heart.
