Marie Triotin (1646-1682) a Filles a Marier was charged with the assault and battery of Nicolas Huot dit Saint-Laurent, Sergent de Beaupre. Apparently she and three other women were accused of spanking the man. All were found guilty and had to make a public apology on the steps of the Chateau-Richer church, as well as make an "offering" to the shrine at Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre.

hi Guy, don't have a problem with having the list elsewhere, although it makes it easy for people to get an idea when they look at the scroll box on here. Personally think too many go see here type pages is counterproductive. As far as writing a history for them, this group is NOT homogenous, a lot of them were actually originally hired on work contract engagées, but very promptly released from said contract when they married without any fuss. Possibly a sneaky way to get women as spouses for the men here.

Danielle & George,

I have created a list of all "Filles à marier" on 2 pages...

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Filles_%C3%A0_marier/List_A-J

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Filles_%C3%A0_marier/List_K-Z

Would like to remove list from this page and add history of Filles à marier.

Hi Danielle,

I had probably viewed an archived webpage on the WayBack Machine. Replaced the link with yours.

Chronicles of New France Project Notes:

Inserted reciprocal page linking between this page and its companion category page.

Corrected page name from Filles a Marier to Filles à Marier.

Issue - Scroll-box will not allow anything to be placed below it.

Hi George,

The Geocity link doesn't work, apparently closed in 2009. This link however does work. Have been using it to identify and mark these women as I find them.

By the way, there is something funny here, category page The Fille du Marier? Should read Filles à Marier.
