My maternal grandmother was adopted at age two. I have the newspaper post that ran advertising her adoption, giving her original birth name and birthdate and her birth certificate issued under her new name. The county did not keep records on adoptions in 1897 so what other sources could I try?
Hi Sherry, are you trying to find her birth parents?
Yes. She was born June 18, 1897 as Eleanor Tracy Nelson. She was adopted in Jacksonville Fl so I assume she was born there but not sure.

Hi David, we have a help page that gives you ideas you can follow for finding a family member here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Adoption_Angels:_How_to_Find_Living_Family_Members

Emma

David, I just had the information forwarded to me via a friend who saw the birth moms post on Facebook. This post was made in 2020 and I just received it this morning. I have sent the birth mom a message. In any event I am wondering if you all have taken a DNA test on Ancestry ? Lots of adoptees have, and are actively searching for birth family. I do not have any information about this person. I am trying to help. God willing the this person will be reunited with his birth family. I did see a person using this same name, born same year, who went to school in Eustis, Florida. This may or may not be the same person. (sincerely, Ingrid)
