Description

Magic has many connotations. In a religious sense it is viewed as a serious and important part of a culture. It is not just little hand tricks or card games. It has a deeper meaning. Magic in older and more ancient societies was used to try to control nature for their benefit. Magicians see the world as being controled or regulated by some other force that can be manipulated for ones needs. They often perform rituals and dances and if done correctly they hope to be able to control nature. They can make dances to cause rain on crops, bring good luck towards hunting game, or cause harm to their enemies.

There are four things that can be achieved with magic. 1. Doing magic to benefit themselves or others. 2. Using it to harm others, in a bad or malicious way. 3. For miracles. 4. To see the future.

Magic included dances and rituals used to benefit themselves and their community. Some rituals were performed in order to gain or recieve some aid from the Gods above, one example is the rain dance that the Native Americans did in order to recieve rain for their crops.
