- Name:Christopher Martyn [Xpoferi Martyn]
- Probate Date: 10 May 1525
- Residence Pudell Towne
This will is difficult to read and needs more careful and skilled reading but he includes mention of
- a)That he is Christopher Martyn of Puddell Athlampton
- b)Wishing to be buried in the sepulchre in Puddletown in the Chapel of St Mary Magdalene where his wife Christian was buried.
- c) bequests to the sons of his son Thomas: John Martyn and Henry Martyn
- d) bequest to daughter of Thomas : Eleyn
- e)That Robert son of his son, his heir apparent inherits the manor of Athlampton. :Provision for his marriage is mentioned so suggests not yet married
- f)His daughter Johane provision for marriage
- g)His present wife Edith who is named sole executrix
From this I would assume that Thomas was already dead and that Robert is possibly still a minor

Nicholas born Feb 22 1529/30
D-CRI/A/32/3/1 Title Tincleton. Inquisition post mortem. Upon the death of Robert Martyn who died seised of manors of Tincleton, Athelhampton, Barston, Pudelbarston, etc and premises in Puddletown and Bere Regis; also of advowsons of churches of Tincleton, Athelhampton and Farringdon; also reciting fines, bargains and sales involving Robert Keylwaye; also reciting in full the will of Robert Martyn, made 28 Jun 1548. He died 19 Jul 1548. His son and heir was Nicholas Martyn aged 20 on 22 Feb 1549. Latin Date 17 Jun 1549
He married Margaret Wadham (she was the sister of Nicholas Wadham who died without issue)
- Children. There were 4 sons and seven daughters according to their memorial however only four daughters survived to become his co-heirs.
Margaret must have been born before about 1555 in order to have children marrying in the 1570s. (at present on wiki tree her birth is given as 1565 but that of her siblings by the same parents are 35 years earlier .She may well have been born prior to this .We do not know when her other children that died were actually born)
Daughters of Nicholas Martyn and their Husbands
The four surviving daughters of Nicholas are fortunately mentioned on the memorial at Athelhampton Here lieth the body of Nicholas Martyn esquire who departed this life and slept with his fathers the 23rd day of March 1595 and left behind, to inherit his lands, four daughters, Elizabeth Francis, Jane and Ann...
- Elizabeth married Henry Brune in abt 1571 He lived in his share of Athelhampton, memorials in chapel
- Frances married Thomas White of Fiddleford (possibly 1577 marriage in Puddletown register, mentioned in Margaret Martyn's Will)
These two daughters almost invariably are with these husbands . The other two vary.
- Ann married Anthony Floyer
- Ann married Henry Tichborne
- Jane married Anthony Floyer
- Jane married Henry Tichbourne
- Jane married Tristram Dillington
The muddle over whether Jane or Ann marries Anthony Floyer appears to arise from Margaret Wadhams will where Jane Floyer is mentioned and then crossed out.
- Ann marries Floyer Visitation of England and Wales Notes: Volume 5 1903 By Joseph J. Howard, Frederick A. Crisp, accessed on https://books.google.co.uk/
- Ann marries Floyer 'House of Martin' quoting Hutchin's Dorset volume 2 says married Floyer https://archive.org/stream/houseofmartinbei00wats#page/99/mode/2up
- Ann marries Tichbourne http://www.mocavo.co.uk/The-Parochial-and-Family-History-of-the-Deanery-of-Trigg-Minor-in-the-County-of-Cornwall-Volume-Ii/385881/483
Fortunately there is an indexed document in the Devon Record Office which seems to resolve this problem. :Devon Record Office Reference: 48/16/1/7
- Description: LUSTLEIGH. Deed to lead Uses of a Fine 6 Charles I

- William Floyer
- John Floyer, gents., younger sons of said Anne Floyer
If Ann married Floyer then who did Jane marry? There are two possibilities

- There is also an online site that quotes primary sources which I so far have been unable to check http://fortunatusfamilia.com.au/getperson.php?personID=I04897&tree=tree1

I went ahead and detatched Margaret Wadham from Nicholas Martin and merged Martin-10332 into Martin-4571 to eliminate some confusion. I thought about editing to make one of them Nicholas son of Robert who actually DID marry Margaret Wadham, but thought it more appropriate that his surname be Martyn instead.
From what I see, if Joe agrees, it looks like the next step is to start copy n pasting your research into the existing and newly created profiles of this lineage.
