Description

The USS Bangor was the name for PF-16, a US Navy Tacoma-class patrol frigate in World War 2.

The ship had a complement of 180 or 190 men. During the war it was part of anti-submarine screens for convoys between the U.S. and North Africa. It participated in at least one depth charge attack.

They spent VE-Day at anchor in Oran. Then they sailed for the Pacific and trained in the Panama Canal Zone. On VJ-Day they were in Seattle, Washington.
