Battle of New Orleans Monument at Chalmette photo by Peter Connolly
The United States Daughters of 1812 led the efforts to complete the monument. Land for the monument was purchased in 1852, but decades of funding and construction problems followed, and the monument was not completed until 1908. Maintenance was turned over to the Chalmette Chapter, United States Daughter of 1812, and in 1939 the monument and surrounding land became part of the National Park Service as Chalmette National Historical Park, the first site of what would later become Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The 100-foot-tall obelisk has become a major landmark in St. Bernard Parish.

Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial
Topping at an amazing 352 feet over Lake Erie, this monument is a tribute to the many victories of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and the lasting peace between Britain, Canada, and the United States that followed the war. It is located at "Put-in" Bay, Ohio. Official dedication was celebrated on July 31, 1931.

The Ross Monument was built as a tribute to Major-General Robert Ross, standing on the exact location where the Anglo-Irish British Army officer had intended to build his retirement home upon a safe return from the war. However, Ross perished during the Battle of Baltimore on September 12, 1814 and is buried in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The obelisk was dedicated to his memory in 1826, twelve years after his death.
