MORRISON, Ill. - Services for Howard R. Spangler, 76, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morrison Chapel of BosmaRenkes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairhaven Township Cemetery, Chadwick.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Spangler died Wednesday in rural Morrison.

He farmed in Spring Valley area until 1961. After that, he worked at Herman Nelson Manufacturing, Potter Lumber Yard, Farmer's Elevator and Knutsen Cabinets, Sterling. He retired in 1979, then assisted his son 15 years at Spangler's Landscaping, Morrison.

He married Ferne Marie Eickert in 1939 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She died in 1984. He married Marian Gross Bramm in 1987 in Morrison.

Mr. Spangler was a member of American Association of Retired Persons, was active in Golden Meals and the SHARE food pro-gram and had attended Morrison United Methodist Church.

A memorial fund has been established.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Lanny, Morrison; stepdaughters, Janet (Mrs. Vernon) Medendorp, Garden Plain, Ill.; and Christine (Mrs. Larry) DeWitte, Morrison; stepsons, Roger Bramm, Anaheim, Calif.; and Philip, George and Joseph Bramm, all of Morrison; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 22 stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Verna (Mrs. Harold) Pace, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Carol (Mrs. Lyman) Lawrence, Davenport; and brothers, Harold, Morrison; Leland, Erie; and Leonard, Fulton.

Mr. Spangler also was preceded in death by three infant sons and a stepson, David Bramm.
