Biography

NOTE

I received the following from Kendall Sparkman 26 Dec 2014: Thomas Washington Sparkman was not the son of William Reid Sparkman, who settled in Stuart Co., TN/Trigg Co., KY, nor is he descended from William Simeon Sparkman, a son of Levi Sparkman who settled in Florida. Thomas Washington is the son of William Sparkman, who is the son of James Sparkman of Hertford Co., NC. ^[1]
Subsequent to this communication I looked up these people in Find A Grave. Thomas Washington Sparkman's memorial says he was the son of William Reid Sparkman and Rosanna Williams. William Reid Sparkman's memorial lists his wife Rosanna and three children born between 1790 and 1797, none named William. Thomas Washington Sparkman and William Reid Sparkman are both interred in the same cemetery. Plus, it shows in the 1850 & 1860 Census that, Rosanna, Thomas Washington Sparkman's mother, is living with him & his family. This is all compelling evidence that shows William Reid Sparkman & Rosanna Williams to be the parents of Thomas Washington Sparkman ^[2]

• 1850 U.S. Census. Family is residing in Williamson County, TN. Thomas W. Sparkman & Nelly A. White have a two year old son named Outlaw, who does not show up in the 1860 Census. It is fair to say that Outlaw died before 1860. Rosanna Sparkman, Thomas' mother, is living with him and his family in 1850.
